Superheroes of Blackness

Superheroes of Blackness is a theatrical piece written by playwright Lois Hicks with musical compositions by contributors Jason “Dirtylynt” Moore, Paige Alyssa, Anita Jackson, Ms. Kriss, Alphonso Harried and Harris. The futuristic story follows an artificial intelligence character named L Jay and her analysis on the St. Louis urban community, its various issues and the drastic consequences that are sparked in the future. The character, voiced by Jacqueline Thompson, was created by cartoonist/animator David Gordon and will feature the digital set designs of Geordy Van Es. L Jay uses an array of African American comic book characters to address issues ranging from homicide, homelessness to black empowerment. With the help of fashion designer Nyla Coleman, these heroes emerge into our world to bring hope and inspiration through the use of technology and music.
